History

Wang Jianjun founded Makeblock in 2013 as a manufacturer of educational robots for STEM teaching; after a slump in the education business in 2020, the company switched to lasers for consumers. In 2021 the D1 diode laser appeared under the xTool brand, followed by the M1 combination device, which raised around US$2.6 million on Kickstarter. According to the stock exchange filing, revenue rose from 1.46 billion CNY (2023) to 2.48 billion CNY (2024), and in the first nine months of 2025 it was 1.78 billion CNY; around 97 percent comes from abroad, about 85 percent from Europe and North America. In 2025, Tencent led a funding round of around US$200 million, and on 1 January 2026 xTool Innovate Limited filed an application for listing on the Hong Kong stock exchange; a completed listing was not documented by the editorial deadline (October 2026). At the end of 2025, xTool opened a European office in Berlin, and in 2026 the O1 Omni, a UV printer with an optional textile print head, was added.

Customer support and warranty

In the EU, warranty cases are handled by email to support.eu@xtool.com with the order number; xTool first tries a remote diagnosis, after which the device goes to a local repair centre. According to xtool.eu, there is a German phone number (+49 211 860 89128, Mon to Fri 9 am to 6 pm) and, according to the manufacturer, over 33 service stations in Europe. The manufacturer's warranty is 24 months on main components for most lasers, 6 months on the P2's CO2 laser tube and 6 months on the print head of the textile printer; consumables are excluded. On Trustpilot, xtool.com has 4.1 out of 5 points from 1,348 reviews (as of October 2026); the company replies to 99 percent of negative reviews. Criticism mainly concerns split or delayed deliveries and lengthy handling of transport damage.

Environment and commitment

Since September 2025 the programme "1% for the Makers" has been running: xTool pledges to donate 1 percent of its net profit each year in the form of devices to schools, fab labs, libraries and non-profit makerspaces; by its own account, devices worth over €300,000 have been given to 62 partners in 18 countries. On sustainability, xTool makes only general statements without verifiable figures; there is an official shop for refurbished devices.

Criticism and problems

No major documented problems found: no recalls, official warnings or lawsuits concerning xTool devices could be found. Recurring complaints on Trustpilot concern delivery problems with large orders and faulty partial deliveries. The stock exchange filing (2026) shows falling unit numbers for the core products (71,900 instead of 85,900 laser devices in the first nine months of 2025) and a strong dependence on US tariffs; for buyers this is more an indication of price and range changes than a product defect.
