Flashforge: all devices

Flashforge (Zhejiang Flashforge 3D Technology) is one of the oldest Chinese 3D printer manufacturers and builds entry-level machines such as the Adventurer series (Adventurer 5M, AD5X) as well as devices for schools and industry. The printers are considered easy to use. Criticism concerns the closed firmware, which is based on Klipper.

History

Flashforge was founded in 2011 as Zhejiang Flashforge 3D Technology and describes itself as one of the first Chinese companies for 3D printers and printing materials; trade fair details give Jinhua in Zhejiang as its location. Its product lines include the Creator series, the entry-level Adventurer series, the Guider series and industrial devices. In 2017 Flashforge was recognised as a well-known brand in Zhejiang province and, according to 3D Hubs data, ranked third among consumer brands worldwide. According to the manufacturer, the company holds 134 national patents and has almost a million users; BGR cites over 1,000 core employees (as of August 2026). The company is privately owned and has a US subsidiary (Flashforge USA).

Customer support and warranty

Warranty claims are reported by email to aftersales@flashforge.com, and there is also a support page with a wiki and downloads; according to the manufacturer, engineers help free of charge via remote maintenance. The manufacturer's warranty is 12 months on printers and 3 months on the nozzle unit, but applies only to purchases in the official shop; for purchases from retailers the retailer is responsible, and the statutory warranty in the EU applies independently of this. Flashforge has a warehouse for most printers in the EU, delivers to Germany in 2 to 5 working days according to the manufacturer and covers customs and taxes; German-language support is not expressly stated. On Trustpilot, flashforge.com has 4.0 out of 5 from 248 reviews with a conspicuously high share of 1-star reviews (28%), and Trustpilot points to few recent invitations (as of October 2026); this does not give a clear picture of the support.

Environment and commitment

Flashforge offers an education programme for schools with free filament test packs for teachers, its own education support and free teaching models.

Criticism and problems

Since October 2023, the Klipper forum has criticised that the Adventurer 5M, 5M Pro and Guider 3 use a modified version of Klipper without publishing the source code required under GPL-3.0; according to the forum, Flashforge reportedly answered enquiries in January 2024 by saying the firmware was completely closed and used no Klipper code. We are not aware of Flashforge having published the source code (as of 10/2026); the community has developed its own firmware mods instead. We are not aware of any recalls or official warnings (as of 10/2026).
