Flashforge CJ270
The Flashforge CJ270 brings material jetting with over 10 million colours to the desk for the first time at around €4,000 and prints layers from 7 µm with water-soluble support material. Build volume, print time and the proprietary resin system limit its use to small colour models, and independent tests are still pending.
Ideal for: Creatives, figure designers and small businesses who want to print small, ready-coloured models and figures without painting and accept the closed material system
Process: Material jetting, called MJP (Multi Jet Printing) by Flashforge: seven inkjet print heads spray very fine droplets of UV-curing photopolymer resin (cyan, magenta, yellow, black, white, clear and water-soluble support material) onto the build plate, with the colours mixed per layer as in 2D inkjet printing. A roller (planarizer) smooths each layer, which is then cured immediately with UV light.

Pros and cons
Pros
- True full-colour printing with colour gradients, no painting
- Very fine layers from 7 µm and water-soluble supports for complex geometries
- Desktop format with activated carbon filter, max. 55 dB and automatic levelling
Cons
- Small build volume of 180 x 120 x 100 mm and long print times of 15 to over 25 hours for larger models
- Closed material system: only Flashforge resin with one-time activation cards, opened material keeps for only 2 months
- No Wi-Fi at launch, contradictory software support for macOS, no independent hands-on tests available
