History

QIDI Tech was founded in 2014 by a small team of engineers; according to CB Insights, the company is based in the Ruian economic development zone near Wenzhou. By its own account, QIDI was the first Chinese 3D printer manufacturer to work directly with Amazon and has a production area of 15,000 m², a development centre of 1,000 m² and an annual capacity of 50,000 printers. The brand became known with the X series (X-Plus, X-Max); later the Q1 Pro and Plus4 followed, and in 2025 the Q2 with the QIDI Box multicolour unit and the Max4. According to CB Insights, QIDI has raised around US$14.4 million in venture capital, including from JOY Capital. Headcount and revenue are not published.

Customer support and warranty

Support requests go through the support page and model-specific email addresses; support staff first try to solve problems by email and software update and send replacement parts free of charge in warranty cases. The team can be reached Monday to Saturday 8:30 am to 5:00 pm Chinese time (GMT+8), and there are also Discord, a Facebook group, a wiki and repair videos; explicitly German-language support is not stated. QIDI has an EU warehouse, from which printers arrive in 3 to 7 working days without customs fees according to the manufacturer, and grants EU consumers up to 2 years of warranty (as required by law), excluding wear parts. On Trustpilot, QIDI has 4.4 out of 5 from 662 reviews (as of October 2026); quick, helpful replies and spare parts are often praised, while hardware faults and slow help with complex problems are criticised.

Environment and commitment

QIDI publishes the customised Klipper and Moonraker sources for its printers on GitHub (e.g. Plus4).

Criticism and problems

Specialist reviews criticise that new models reach the market too early: in December 2024 igor'sLAB wrote of many teething problems for early buyers of the Plus4, non-optimal Klipper macros, a camera advertised as 1080p that only works at 640 x 480, and a chamber heater throttled to 40%. Many of these points have been improved through firmware and profile updates. We are not aware of any recalls or legal disputes (as of 10/2026).
